A mask for blackheads: recipe
If you’ve read this post, you know that the “blackheads” are actually sebaceous filaments (SFs). But semantics aside, the best way to deal with these guys is to first educate yourself:
- they are not blackheads
- they are genetic
- they are not a skin condition
- they are completely normal and loads of people have them
- there is no way to make them go away or change
You can temporarily reduce them by exfoliating with enzymes or acids and/or by using clay/charcoal to draw out the sebum. Be warned, they will refill within 30 days, often sooner. But this mask will help since it has some of the most effective ingredients for reducing SFs. If you want to use this mask on the rest of your face, please note it is a powerhouse exfoliator, yet contains lots of nourishment and nutrition.
“Black Magic” MASK for blackheads
Products needed:
- Harvest Illuminé Enzyme Exfoliating Mask
- Miel Noir Gentle Facial Cleanser
Uses:
- Reducing SFs (“blackheads”) on the nose, chin and forehead.
- Strongly nourishing, exfoliating and brightening the skin.
Key Ingredients:
- Willow bark extract
- Over 10 different botanical enzymes including pumpkin, papaya and pineapple
- Activated Charcoal
- Wasabi Extract
Recipe:
Mix Harvest Illumine mask powder with a few pumps of Miel Noir facial cleanser in an anointing bowl till a thick paste is formed. (You can use water/yogurt/kombucha to thin as needed to the consistency you desire.)
Directions:
Apply a thin layer over areas with sebaceous filaments/blackheads – or if desired, over the entire face, avoiding eye area.
Use a wet facial cloth (Harvest Illumine comes with some) or use pieces of damp kleenex over the mask to keep it from drying out. (If it dries out, the enzymes deactivate!) You can also occasionally mist the face as an alternative.
Leave on for 5 – 7 minutes.
Rinse well.
If skin tolerated the mask without redness or tingling, feel free to increase the time to 10-15 minutes next use.
Use 1-4x per month.
Another great technique for reducing blackheads/sebaceous filaments is oil cleansing. I give a little more details in this post.
Let me know how this goes in the comments! xx
